2019 33 x 72 x 12 cm Aluminum, sugar maple, leather
Using aluminum extrusion taken from pedestrian bridges as the starting point, the idea was to repurpose the off-cuts. The material availability of aluminum combined with Quebec’s winter traditions form the conceptual premise for this project. Deeply anchored in the collective memory of the province, these narratives combine to create a rather playful sled. A design which diverts from the traditional use of an extruded beam towards an unexpected outcome. An exercise that seeks to highlight the much needed rapport between industrial transformation methods and the finesse of manual work.
